Hiking at Cedar Butte

This weekend it was just Mike and I again so we made the most of it! Friday we went to the movies and saw Mama Mia - which, by the way, was great!! (Mike would even have to admit he enjoyed it -although he did call it "cheesy").

Saturday, we finally made the hour drive to the mountains for a hike. We did the Cedar Butte Trail in the Iron Horse State Park. It was a great 5 mile hike (a pretty moderate 2 1/2 miles uphill to the top of the butte with an awesome view!) Saturday night we were going to go out for dinner but it was getting late so we opted to stay in and Mike grilled up some fabulous steaks and we hung out outside. Sunday, Mike let me sleep in and I awoke to the smell of "Mikes Famous Breakfast"-which was awesome!!

Then we headed out for a quick kayak - I actually sat this one out as every time I sit in the kayak the baby ends up sitting right on my bladder which makes for a long trip. Instead I sat on a park bench overlooking the beach. Mike said he saw some huge Dungeness crabs and took a picture to show me.

Sunday afternoon was spent laying outside in the backyard with Mike claiming he was doing homework, but I think he was more worried about getting an even tan than studying. We ended a relaxing weekend with an evening walk on the BPA trail!

Baby Stuff Weekend

Mike had class this weekend so it was somewhat less than adventurous. Friday night, while Mike was in class I went with my neighbor to her "Bunko Group". Bunko is a fast moving dice game that you play with 12 people. I had a lot of fun and apparently did really good by scoring 4 Bunkos. Saturday, Mike and I had big plans to go to the Old Towne Blues Fest in Tacoma and sit outside and listen to jazz and eat bar-b-que. Our plans were altered as I managed to let kitty sneak out the back door and jump over our fence. I was desperate to find her before Mike came home and found his "baby" missing but no such luck- 2 hours later we had our cat back but had missed the show. We went downtown anyway and ate dinner outside at a wine bar called Divino's. Sunday, we sat out in the backyard and I looked for baby stuff on Craig's List. We ended up getting a great deal on some baby toys that were all in excellent condition from a very nice lady. That evening we went for a quick kayak before settling in for veggie stir fry and a movie!

Fourth of July Weekend!

We had a great long weekend and beautiful weather! It didn't start out so well as I came home from a 1/2 day at work to a crisis. Mike had let the cat out in the backyard and she jumped over the fence and had been gone for 2 hours. As we were walking around the neighborhood yelling her name, the neighbors found her and chased her in the garage while they called us to come home! That could have ruined the weekend, but it all worked out. Well... except for Mia, who was grounded for the rest of the night :)

Friday, Mike and I went to the Tall Ships Festival in Tacoma and then came home to make dinner and watch fireworks from our backyard. Looking out our window, over Tacoma and the surrounding area, we could see hundreds and hundreds of fireworks across the horizon. Most were from individuals and some were probably other cities. It was unlike anything we had ever seen before. At the last minute, I was afraid that the Tacoma fireworks would not appear close enough, so we jumped in the car and went down to the Browns Point Lighthouse. We got there just in time to have an awesome view of the fireworks from across the bay.

Saturday, we headed out to register at Babies-R-Us. Fortunately, cousin Laura had given us great advice on many things and showed us her friend's registry so we had some idea of what we wanted. But we were still completely overwhelmed by all of the choices and the huge variances in the price range of products. 5 hours later (and a quick break at Starbucks) we at least had a good start! Here's our list, we'll take any suggestions.

Sunday, Erica came over with 2 of her friends, Emily and Adam for brunch. Mike made his famous poached eggs, English muffins, and turkey bacon. (This is our traditional Sunday breakfast). We spent the day sitting in the backyard with Mike doing homework and me working on a class I have to teach on Tuesday. Then we took a break and went for a little kayak on the sound before dinner!

Here's a link to more firework pictures!

6 Months Pregnant

Well, here I am at 24 weeks. Everyone keeps telling me I have the "pregnant waddle". I guess the only thing to do is take this as a compliment. The baby's kicks are getting stronger, sometimes my stomach even moves!

San Francisco

This past weekend I went down to San Francisco to see Brianne and Mary. I arrived late Friday night. Saturday we were hoping for a beach day so we drove to Half Moon Bay but it turned out to be cold and cloudy. We made the best of it though and walked along the coastal trail and ate our picnic lunch by the beach. Saturday night we went to an awesome Middle Eastern restaurant called Dish Dash in downtown Sunnyvale (which is where they actually live).

Sunday we went to downtown San Francisco to the 35th annual Pride Festival. We took the train into town, got some muffins and espresso and settled down to watch the parade. After 2 1/2 hours of a very entertaining parade, (which was still going strong), we were all tired of standing, and decided it was time to eat again. We ate pizza at a cute Italian restaurant and then had to catch the train back to San Fransisco so I didn't miss my flight back home. It was sure great to see you guys and I can't wait till we all live in the same city again!!!
