Anne and Anna

Anne and her friend Anna came to Seattle for a week! They stayed with us for the weekend and the rest of the week was spent with Anna' mom and aunt. We spent Saturday checking out Seattle while Mike was at class. Sunday, we planned a picnic and a hike in Mt. Rainier National Park. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy so we did a short hike and ate lunch in the jeep. Those two girls are so easy going and lots of fun to hang out with!

Mount Si with Brianne and Mary

Forgetting the pain of our first adventure to the top of Mount Si we did it again with Brianne and Mary. This time it was no easier but (with Mike’s coaxing) the girls climbed the “haystack” to the very top of the mountain. If it would have been any steeper you would have needed ropes!

Wedding in Ocean Shores

This weekend we drove the jeep with the bikes on the back to Ocean Shores - on the Olympic peninsula. We made the trip for one of my co-workers weddings. She got married on the beach. It was warm and sunny until we got to the coast and the clouds rolled in and the temp rapidly dropped about 15 degrees just in time for the ceremony. The wedding was at 5:00pm Saturday evening and afterwards we went back to my co-workers house for a reception. We spent the evening playing horseshoes and singing Kareoke in the living room. Everyone knows that I can't even hold a note, so I don't know how I ended up singing "Brown Eyed Girl with Mike". The machine rates your singing and everyone was getting like 93-98%, so I don't understand how Mike and I got a 52% - it must have been broken! Sunday, we took the bikes out for a quick 14 mile bike ride. We rode out to Preservation island which was more like a spit than an island. Unfortunately, the trail was closed so we ended up biking on the beach through the nature preserve 4 miles total - that was a workout! Before we drove home we stopped by the beach. The beach is unique in that it is really wide. In low tide the beach was like 1/4 mile wide! They let people drive on the beach and park there cars and tailgate pretty much. At first we thought this ruined the atmosphere, but, if you can't beat them join them, so we cruised the strip on the beach then parked for a while to drink our coffee and enjoy the view!

Melissa's Wedding

This weekend we went to Minnesota for my previous co-workers wedding. Once again Mike was the photographer (and me too!) Mike had me stand on the balcony in the back of church and take pictures with the camera on a tripod. I was really really nervous but I got a few great pictures. Mike got the best picture ever - it was of the bride doing a cartwheel! At the reception, there was a live band that played Celtic music, their name was Sweet Colleen and they are actually becoming quite popular. Even though Mike and I planned to leave a 9:00pm we stayed till the very end since we were having so much fun. We stayed with Julie and Daniel but unfortunately they worked nights the whole time and then had to sleep during the day, but we got to eat breakfast with them when they got home from work in the morning and then Julie stayed up with us until noon when she took us to the airport on Sunday! We also got to see Pat and Jenny who lived in our same apt complex in Eagan, MN. They both went to SLU and Pat is an engineer for Northwest Airlines. Jenny is pregnant and due in October.
